The halflings call themselves Hin. They are resectful of property and the dignity of others. They may feign innocence and/or stupidity to outsiders, but they are neither in reality. They are a proud, but not to the point of insult at slights. They are sensetive to the needs of others. While they are inquisitive and curious, they are not pushy.
It is wrong to see halflings as mischievous children. They respect the dignity and property of others.
The Hin venerate their elders, but do not understand religions. They believe strongly in personal freedom. They do not understand when people impose their wills upon others. Halflings will fearlessly tell others when they have crossed the line.
Children are called Hinlings, and they owe service to their family or clan in return for protection. Adolescents are called Yallaren and they have the right speak and act freely. Hin are adult halflings and have full rights.
Among the less adventurous Hin a favorite pastime is to blend pipesmoke mixes. They enjoy smoking after meals. Meals usually consisting of ale, cheese, hot buttered biscuits, jelly, and cinnamon paste.
They live in houses in Specularum. They wear normal Karameikan and Hin garb. They are an official demihuman clan. They have some secret magics. They have a high iron age technology. There are 510 Hin in Karameikos, mostly in Specularum. The Fleetfoot clan does not seek to settle new territory.
