These are members of the Merchant's Guild in Specularum. To become a member of this profession you begin as an apprentice peddlar.

Apprentice Peddler (Available in childhood)

Here the guild member travels with a journeyman peddler to learn the trade.

Horse Care (IN) (b)

Small Talk (IN or IU) (d): The ability to go on and on with someone for a long time and have them recall it as a pleasant discussion.

Horse-Drawn Carts (MA) (b): The ability to operate and perform routine maintenance on a cart, wagon, or the like.

ConditionKarameikan Connections (d): This allows the character to know people throughout Karameikos.

Salary: 1 royal per month after guild fees.

Cost of Apprentice Peddler: 4 HP

Possible Exits: Leave the profession, continue on to apprentice trader, or remain an apprentice peddler.

Apprentice Trader (Available in childhood)

Having some experience on the road, the guild member is now apprenticed to a trader in one of the following locations: Specularum, Marilenev, Vorloi, Dmitrov, Sulescu, Fort Doom, Threshold, Highforge, Penhaligon, or Kelvin.

Appraisal (IN) (d): The ability to know the market value of some commodity.

Small Talk (IN or IU) (d)

Condition(local) Connections (d): This allows the character to know people in the local city, town or village.

Salary: 2 royals per month after guild fees.

Cost of Apprentice Trader: 4 HP

Possible Exits: Leave the profession, continue on to Journeyman Peddler, remain as an apprentice trader.

Journeyman Peddler

The guild member is now given a cart and allowed to make their own way. They are expected to give over 25% of their earnings to the guild.

As apprentice peddler.

Appraisal (IN) (d)

Bargaining (IN or IU) (d): This skill allows the merchant to make a deal in their favor.

Salary: 5 royals per month.

Equipment: Horse and Wagon, mattress and blankets, 4 kegs of common goods (decided upon by the character: cooking gear, five large weapons, 10 small weapons, 50 arrows or bolts, tools, fabric).

Cost of Journeyman Peddler: 14 HP.

Possible Exits: Leave the profession, continue on to Journeyman Trader, continue on to Master Peddler, remain as a journeyman peddler.

Journeyman Trader

The guild member is now allowed to set up a shop in one of the following locations: Specularum, Marilenev, Vorloi, Dmitrov, Sulescu, Fort Doom, Threshold, Highforge, Penhaligon, or Kelvin.

As apprentice trader.

Bargaining (IN or IU) (d).

Salary: 6 royals per month.

Equipment: Small shop.

Cost: 14 HP.

Possible Exits: Leave the profession, continue on to Master Peddler, continue on to Master Trader, remain as a journeyman trader.

Master Peddlar

Now the guild member has mastered a profession. Other peddlers report to the guild member as their superior.

As Journeyman Peddler

ConditionNetwork of Peddlers (d): This skill allows the master peddler to have a loyal network of peddlers across Karameikos. The members of this network will do favors on behalf of the master.

Salary: 10 royals per month.

Cost: 20 HP.

Possible Exits: Leave the profession, continue on to Master Trader, continue on to Apprentice Merchant, remain a Master Peddler.

Master Trader

The guild member has been given control of several traders within one of the following locations: Specularum, Marilenev, Vorloi, Dmitrov, Sulescu, Fort Doom, Threshold, Highforge, Penhaligon, or Kelvin.

As Journeyman Trader.

ConditionNetwork of Traders (d): This skill allows the master trader to have a loyal network of traders across their local area. The members of this network will do favors on behalf of the master.

Salary: 10 royals per month.

Cost: 19 HP.

Possible Exits: Leave the profession, continue on to Apprentice Merchant, remain a Master Trader.

Apprentice Merchant

The guild member has been accepted into the Inner Circle of the Guild.

Knowledge of Coins (IN) (d): The guild member is knowledgeable in the coinage and currency of the world.

Calculation (IN) (b): The guild member can perform arithmetic operations.

Literacy (IN) (b): The guild member can read and write.

Riding (MA) (b): The guild member can ride a horse.

Speak Foreign Language (IN) (d): The guild member can speak a foreign language.

ConditionKarameikan Connections (d): This allows the character to know people throughout Karameikos.

Salary: 10 royals per month.

Equipment: Apartment in Bricktop in Specularum.

Cost: 18 HP.

Possible Exits: Leave the profession, continue on to Journeyman Merchant, remain an apprentice merchant.

Journeyman Merchant

The guild member can now operate as an independent merchant, tithing 15% to the guild.

As Apprentice Merchant

ConditionNetwork of Contacts (e): The guild member has enough contacts to learn of secret doings that might have an effect on business. These contacts will perform favors for the guild member upon request/payment.

Salary: 15 royals per month.

Equipment: House in Specularum or Kelvin.

Cost: 26 HP.

Master Merchant

The guild member has attained the highest status in the organization.

As Journeyman Merchant

ConditionPolitical Power (e): The master has the power to cause some changes in rules or political decisions.

Condition Personal Wealth (e): The master has so much money that they can just afford things..

Cost: 30 HP.
